Deeper Sleepers

3 Sep

Why pay $30 a year to be an ESPN Insider when you can get all the information you need right here? If you don’t know, now ya know. Anyways here is a list of a handful, maybe two handfuls of sleepers who might be creeping up the draft board come draft day. These are guys that you want to take a flyer on in the midnight rounds, ya dig? Pick two, any two…..

Joe Flacco, QB,BAL - He’s got  the arm of a Greek God and as long as he stops giving away his throws this season he has all the ability in the world to breakout. Could be a gift if your number one goes down.

Brady Quinn, QB, CLE – Maybe a longshot, but he’s going to have to throw — assuming he wins the starting job. He’s got some weapons around him as long as they don’t confuse the Stick ‘em jar with Country Crock.

Edgerrin James, RB, SEA – Why not? If you have a 15th rounder to spare James is not a bad risk and you can always drop him after a couple weeks. Just see how things go. They say he might be a goal-line guy after cutting Mr. Duckett.

Glen Coffee, RB, SF - It’s going to be tough to find him some playing time, but so far when he is on the field he looks like a first rounder. Okay okay, I know it’s preseason, but this is the sleeper of the year.

James Davis, RB, CLE – Jamal is getting up there in age and James has caught the eyes of the coaching staff. Averaging nearly 8 yards a carry this preseason, you may seem him on the field this year quite a bit.

Mike Bell, RB, NO – With the uncertain nature of the running back position here is a late round gold mine if you have the guts to pull the trigger. If Pierre goes down, Bell will get some nice touches in a potent offense.

Chris Henry, WR, CIN – You gotta have love for Slim. It seems as if he might have his act together as much as he can and the coaching staff isn’t willing to give up on him. He also is the preseason MVP as far as I am concerned.

Earl Bennett, WR, CHI – My name is Earl could be the sleeper wideout of the year. Familiar with Jay because he was his go-to wideout in the college ranks. Good size, good speed, good steal.

Jabar Gaffney, WR, DEN – Knows the system in Denver (New England) and I see them throwing a lot this year with the schedule they have. And who knows what kind of Soap Opera is going to play out there.

Mario Manningham, WR, NYG – Eli has stated that this guy gets out of his cuts faster than anybody he has ever seen. He’s been threw the learning curve and could possibly have a shot this season. Keep an eye on him as well a Hakeem ‘Watch My’ Nicks.

Jermichael Finley, TE, GB – The kids got as much swag as anybody and might just have the skills to back it up. Not sure if you are interested in a sleeper Tight End, but atleast stay informed because this is a name to watch.
